Jillian likes to help in the kitchen. She is always very proud and excited and I try to compliment her. Yes it does take a lot longer than if I would just do it myself, but I need to remind myself that this time is gonna go by way too fast and I need to enjoy it. She is very happy to have her own kitchen tools and so is mommy, as they can’t hurt her.
I also posted a video of her “help” going a little wrong :)

Fun in the Sun (and snow)

For a week in January we had very mild temperatures, which we enjoyed a lot. We built a snowman and played in the deep snow in the backyard. Jilli loved sliding down the high drifts and throwing snow at us. One thing I don’t enjoy so much is the time it takes to get dressed to go outside.

A little bit of everything...

Not much to talk about in this household. Life is going by and we are trying to enjoy every minute of it.
Jilli is growing up fast and constantly learning and making us laugh. She is such a goofy little girl (just like her daddy). She is mostly happy, but does challenge us with her stubbornness. She sure knows what she wants.
She also doesn’t eat very well, all she wants to eat is meat. Seriously she can eat meat 3 times a day and she won’t touch anything else. We’ve tried bribing her, making her eat, etc. and it has caused much frustration. I hope it is just a phase and she will balance out her diet.

The pregnancy is going well. I enjoy feeling the baby move. I’m in a lot more pain than with Jillian though. Junior seems to be lying different and some days I can hardly walk.
I’m looking forward to my next ultrasound in 3 weeks. We have 4 appointments that day, one of them is for Jillian’s hernia which means we have to take her along. I’m a little bit nervous about that and hope she will stay happy.
The trips to Winnipeg are going to increase over the next few months and it is definitely harder now, as we have to find a babysitter for Jillian and I do miss her when she is gone the night before.
It is all worth it in the end though :)

Hello Junior!

Were to start?!
Last thursday was a day I had been looking forward too for a while. I had my first fetal assessment. I was excited and nervous. I knew baby was alive as I can feel the evidence :) but was everything else going ok?
It was great being back in that Ultrasound room again, memories came back and I waited impatiently for the Tech to start. Just as when I was pregnant with Jillian, we got to watch the screen right from the start. While she did all her measurements we watched and were amazed at the miracle we saw. Warren thought it looked kinda freaky as it was basically bones and skin :) By my next appointment it should look a little more round.
Everything look good and she had no concerns. Even my bicornuate uterus was no concern and I’m happy about that. So now I just need to keep my sugars good to give Junior a great start into this world.
I’m now 20 weeks along (halfway there!) and happy to be at this point. Besides my sore body in the evening and some mild heartburn I feel good.
I’m already feeling the nesting kick in. I’m impatiently waiting for Warren to do some shelfs for the office downstairs, so I can move everything down and fill the closet for Junior. I tell myself that I have lots of time though. I’m sure it doesn’t help that you don’t have as much to do in winter; no gardening, going to the playground, spring cleaning and stuff. I did get my garage sale stuff all priced though, so when the time comes around I’m ready to go.
I guess we also don’t have as much to prepare the second time around. I want to find a german style crib for Jillian and a dresser. Then the office gets moved to the basement and the crib and change stable goes into the “old” office. Baby clothes need to be washed and put into place, but that should be it. So I really need to hold myself back :)
Maybe I should start some projects like Jillian’s first and second year photo album!? There is actually lots I can do... so I better go start that first.

Christmas Eve and Sunday School Program

Almost a month later I finally get around to write about our holidays. We don’t have a whole lot of pictures, as Warren took mostly videos that need to be edited yet.
Christmas eve we spent with Mom and Dad Thiessen and siblings. While I helped get the pizza ready, Warren played outside with Jillian. She absolutely loved it and was quite upset when she had to go inside.
The food was fabulous and the whole evening relaxing and fun. We stayed their for night and after Jillian was in bed we played some Wii and then watched a movie. The night ended up being a little too short :)
We enjoyed Breakfast together and then went to church for the Christmas Service.

The Sunday before Christmas our church had their Sunday School program. Jillian who is part of the nursery class, got to stand in the front for a couple of songs. We had practiced the actions to Away in a Manger, but of course she didn’t do them as she was to shy :)
It was fun watching the little ones just stand there and entertain with jumps of the stage, walking up and down the stairs and sitting down and standing up. They sure don’t know how to stand still for 10 seconds :)

Christmas at the Thiessen’s

Since Christmas eve and Christmas day is spent with our parents and siblings, we made it a custom to celebrate Christmas with our little Family on the 23rd. We have a yummy supper together and then open gifts, while we listen to Christmas music. We then enjoy the rest of the evening relaxing together and reflecting on the reason for this holiday.
Jilli was excited about her Kitchen and we were happy to be finished with it in time (well there are a few little things, like a oven rack that we will add yet)
She’s been playing with it whenever she can. It is so cute to watch her... She brings us something she “cooked” and wants us to try, then she watches our face as we pretend to eat and if we say “Oh that is so yummy” she has the biggest smile on her face.

Well, better get ready for the next Christmas Party. We are staying at Warren’s parents for night so I have to pack some stuff yet. I’m really looking forward to spending time with our Families!

Birthday Parties

My little girl is two years old! I still can’t believe it. She was very excited the whole day, which started off by singing Happy Birthday for her. In the morning all the aunties and cousin’s came over, except for Julie and Irene since their kids were sick. We had a great time just visiting and watching the kids play.
For supper Grandpa & Grandma and Opa & Oma came and stayed for the evening. Jilli was very excited about the toys and books she got. She was so happy, she even shared her Birthday treat with her doll :) The funny thing is that after she placed the treat in the dolls hand, she went off to play with something else. I finally convinced her that the baby wasn’t hungry and she should just eat the treat.
